Fifty-five years of getting cable in the ground and up the tower.

CBS Products was established in 1971 in Oakham, Rutland. It has been designing and manufacturing cable installation equipment there ever since.

1971

Jointing equipment in Oakham

The company starts out designing and manufacturing cable jointing equipment, then diversifies into winching equipment for the power transmission industry.

1986

Fibre along the power lines

Electricity de-regulation sends power companies into telecoms, installing fibre optic cable along transmission networks. CBS builds pullers, tensioners and running-out blocks for high-production cable placing.

1990s

ISO 9001 and the Tornado

The company achieves BS EN ISO 9001. The Tornado fibre blowing machine out-performs every competitor in BT's evaluation and CBS becomes BT's exclusive supplier of cable blowing equipment.

2004

Joining forces with GMP

A partnership with GMP Tools of the USA extends the global reach of both companies' outside-plant equipment.

2017

Part of Klein Tools

GMP and CBS are acquired by Klein Tools. Renamed CBS Products (KT) Ltd, with the same engineering team and the financial backing of a major American tool maker.
